Running Junction is an Online Magazine for Runners in North Carolina. I was contacted by Mike, owner of Junction 311 and Running Junction, to create a website for the newly launched Running Junction Magazine. The first printed publication of this quarterly magazine was already in distribution. The goal of the new website was to provide not only an online version of the printed magazine, but also to allow the company to continuously add new articles in-between publications.

As part of the design brief, it was clear that article categorisation would be important. The audience (runners in the North Carolina area), should be able to easily find articles that they are interested in. The website has been designed so that each of the categories, such as Events, Gear and Running Life, all have a page of their own. Within each of these pages, the website owner is able to select which articles to “feature” in the header.

The site has been designed with maintenance in mind, so that the owner can add new articles, categorise them and even create new category pages with ease.

The homepage uses software to feature “Trending Articles” or most-read articles, allowing readers find popular articles very quickly.

It also features an Events Calendar software, which allows the owner to add new events, such as Marathons and other races in the area. The details are then automatically populated to the Race Calendar page.

This type of website design could suit a number of different areas, such as travel bloggers, photographers, food writers and just about anyone who is writing regular content/articles.

It was a joy to work with Victoria. She was very responsive and worked closely with me to get what I was looking for on our site. I would definitely recommend her for work on any WordPress website.
